Sr. Director, Capital Equipment –United States-Depuy Synthes Sales

The Sr. Director, Capital Equipment Sales is responsible for the DePuy Synthes portfolio encompassing Power Tools, Enabling Technology and Capital Equipment and will be accountable for leading the overall management of sales strategies, activities, operations, Distributor relationships and budgets associated with driving sales for the organization.  As part of this dynamic team with world-class orthopedic products and services, this candidate would lead sales activities and service solution strategies that would result in customer and patient satisfaction while exceeding the sales goals and objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Member of DePuy Synthes leadership team , reporting directly to the President of DPS
  • Primarily responsible for growing our sales for Capital Business (Power Tools, Enabling Technology teams)
  • Provide strategic and business direction to enable growth for our capital equipment business which is inclusive of services and solutions
  • Lead capital equipment alliances and distribution agreements for the Capital Equipment Business
  • Assess and prepare the organization to drive growth and build required capabilities and strengthen talent
  • Evaluate, prioritize and execute on key priorities / initiatives to advance the commercial agenda
  • Work cross functionally with key partners such as field sales organization, SCG, finance, marketing to execute on key deals / initiatives on timely basis
  • Identify and participate in licensing and contracting opportunities for key opportunities
  • Reduce cost to serve and increase profitability and GP
  • Build strong partnership with distributor network for power tools business to execute on commercial goals
  • Deliver innovative customer programs/tools/solutions to help growth both capital and implant business
  • This role will be a part of the President’s Leadership Team and be responsible for taking on key initiatives and project oversight as a part of the LT
  • Possess and exhibit vast understanding of the changing market dynamics in healthcare, and understand the responsibility and requirements on the organization to continue to compete as viable player which would include market knowledge of Health Economics and Industry Trends, Customer Segmentation, customer data knowledge and buying process.
  • Comply with all applicable laws and regulations relating to DePuy’s business activities and Policies and Procedures of the Health Care Compliance Program and  Johnson and Johnson Business Code of Conduct



  • BA/BS degree or equivalent required; Business/Marketing/Finance degree preferred.
  • MBA preferred.
  • A minimum of 10 years of medical sales experience required paired with a minimum of 5 years of sales management experience. 
  • Demonstrated leadership capability including the ability to lead and manage through change and strong leadership principles behavior alignment: Connect Shape, Lead, and Deliver.
  • Track record of success working within a matrix organizational environment and enterprise mindset decision making.
  • Excellent understanding of Customer, Business Intelligence and Industry trends.
  • Demonstrated leadership in strategic planning and project management along with documented sales achievement(s) are required. 
  • Strong Business & Financial Acumen in understanding the needs and priorities of the broader business with a penchant for understanding the use of metrics/numbers to gauge overall performance.
  • Demonstrated track record as a Talent Champion in coaching, developing, retention, acquiring and building a diverse pipeline of future talent.
  • Stakeholder engagement; which includes communicating, influencing, and providing comprehensive solutions
  • Experience working across an large portfolio and providing enterprise wide solutions strongly preferred
  • A valid driver's license, paired with a clean driving record is required
