The Operational Excellence/Continuous improvement engineer operates in a Matrix organization and provides to the site the specialist knowledge in the areas of Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma. A general understanding of manufacturing process design, value engineering, detailed engineering in mechanics, mechatronics, electronics, software or systems is expected.

Implement and sustain continuous improvement principles. Participate in and eventually Champion continuous improvement activities and workshops. Develop Cost Reductions efforts to constantly improve processes and lower costs to achieve yearly targets. Analyze operations and sequence of operations to assure full utilization and maximum quality from present equipment. Work cross Functionally to strategically identify and solve various issues with existing processes. Provide technical support and monitor critical processes. Monitor new technical developments for possible application in the department. Work with department leads through the facility to refine documented tool change procedures. Tool performance review and action item development (frequency and failure mode review). Responsibility for change management, including reviewing engineering changes for manufacturability and implementing those changes. Responsible for putting effective CAPAs in place for compliance actions within the agreed timeline. Maintain work in inspection readiness level and provide the necessary support in any internal or external audit in additional to providing input to and review regulatory documentation. Ensures all work adheres to HS&E requirements. Performs technical feasibility trials related to process improvement and implementation of new manufacturing technologies.

Minimum requirements Bachelor's degree in Engineering. English 5 years' experience in a Lean manufacturing environment. Exp. in a Lean/Continuous improved focused role. Excellent communication skills and ability to work independently with strong leadership. Strong Lean Methodologies, continuous improvement background (Certification is a significant plus). Ability to analyze and solve problems by thinking strategically and creatively. Strong initiative, critical thinking skills and understanding of medical device manufacturing and compliance. Project mgt. skills. Risk mgt. as it applies to cost and timeline. excellent interpersonal skills with team members, mgt. and executive staff. Ability and comfort working in matrix resources. Excellent influence and change mgt. skills. Has worked in a research and development environment as a senior technical expert. Medical device exp. is a plus.
