The Operational Excellence/Continuous improvement engineer operates in a Matrix organization and provides to the site the specialist knowledge in the areas of Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma. A general understanding of manufacturing process design, value engineering, detailed engineering in mechanics, mechatronics, electronics, software or systems is expected.
Implement and sustain continuous improvement principles. Participate in and eventually Champion continuous improvement activities and workshops. Develop Cost Reductions efforts to constantly improve processes and lower costs to achieve yearly targets. Analyze operations and sequence of operations to assure full utilization and maximum quality from present equipment. Work cross Functionally to strategically identify and solve various issues with existing processes. Provide technical support and monitor critical processes. Monitor new technical developments for possible application in the department. Work with department leads through the facility to refine documented tool change procedures. Tool performance review and action item development (frequency and failure mode review). Responsibility for change management, including reviewing engineering changes for manufacturability and implementing those changes. Responsible for putting effective CAPAs in place for compliance actions within the agreed timeline. Maintain work in inspection readiness level and provide the necessary support in any internal or external audit in additional to providing input to and review regulatory documentation. Ensures all work adheres to HS&E requirements. Performs technical feasibility trials related to process improvement and implementation of new manufacturing technologies.
