Current Need
The position is responsible for supporting financial planning and analysis activities of Network and Financial Management within McKesson Health Services.  Key responsibilities include providing oversight of operational P&Ls, support and analysis to Corporate FP&A, support and analysis to Network and Financial Management executives and business leaders, and general support of all FP&A planning and forecasting activities.

Position Description

Financial Analysis – Analyze, communicate and be the advisor of the key metrics and drivers of the business unit performance (against history, budget, forecast, strategic plan, and competition).

Planning & Forecasting - Support the financial planning activities for the business unit and provide clear understanding and insight for all planning activities including strategic plan, budget, and forecasts.

Special Projects - Carry out special projects as required.

Key Responsibilities

1. Financial Analysis

  • This position is expected to provide timely, relevant and accurate analysis of the results of the business unit’s performance against historical, budgeted, forecasted and strategic planning results to facilitate decision-making toward the achievement of the budget and strategic plan.
  • This requires that the position:
  • Analyze Results - Analyze the key drivers and metrics vs historical performance, budgets, forecasts, and strategic plans and communicate results to leadership for decision support, plan reviews and operational reviews.
  • Process Improvement - Suggest & drive process improvement initiatives related to any planning, reporting, or analytic process.

2. Planning & Forecasting

  • This position is expected to support the financial planning activities of the business unit in a manner that yields challenging, but achievable, strategic plans, budgets and forecasts and provides clear understanding of results. This requires that the position:
  • Review and advise Finance Leadership on plan and forecast results based on a thorough knowledge of the targets, metrics, resources, initiatives and investments at the division level.
  • Review and present a clear understanding of results for the forecast, budget or strategic plan versus prior year by business.
  • Be key member of the team for consolidating reporting for monthly/quarterly/budget packages.
  • Utilize the standard planning and forecasting formats.
  • Utilize financial systems (TM1, SAP, PeopleSoft) to consolidate and report on plans and forecasts.
  • Properly sequence and integrate with corporate planning activities.

3. Special Projects

  • This position is expected to possess the skills and initiative to carry out special financial planning and/or analysis of projects of varying nature and complexity with limited supervision by clarifying objectives and assumptions or making appropriate judgments where necessary.
  • This may include calculating and administering commissions, analysis of competition, financial metrics, process improvement initiatives, investments, six-sigma, etc.  


Minimum Requirements
5+ years accounting, finance, finance analytics or similar experience

Critical Skills

  • Ability to analyze and solve complex business problems
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Advanced MS Excel skills (pivot tables, v look ups, some/if, etc…)
  • Experience with creating reporting and presentations for Sr. Leadership.
  • Advanced knowledge of financial statements
  • Advanced financial modeling skills

Additional Knowledge & Skills

  • Good knowledge of GAAP preferred
  • SAP, TM1 and SharePoint preferred
  • Excellent financial systems and process skills preferred

MBA preferred in finance or related field or equivalent experience
