Job Description:
Title: Sr. Product Engineer I
Purpose:
This position is to lead product design, builds, and validation of automotive battery products. This position is a senior role and offers a good variety of responsibilities and tasks including technical design, hands on build and plant visits, process exposure, some customer interaction, and more.

Specific Responsibilities and Deliverables:
  • To analyze and understand product requirements
  • To design battery products to bring to market
  • To attend product validation builds to ensure quality of builds
  • To write validation requests and summarize validation test results
  • To report on project progress on a weekly basis
  • To make use of risk assessment tools such as DFMEA
  • To communicates technical issues with clarity
  • To take part in customer interactions to support from an engineering standpoint
  • To issue product changes through the product change management process
Design :
  • Understand OE, OES and AM program requirements
  • DFMEA development and risk assessment
  • Responsible for BOM documentation and change releases for ED/DV/PV trials
  • Review DVP&R test plan and updates.
  • Execute compliance analysis on an on-going basis
  • Address quality concerns via analysis and resolutions of issues
Development :
  • Plan and execute Engineering sample builds required for OE, OES and AM validations
  • Contribute to design reviews, DFMEA, PFMEA, and Control Plan meetings
  • Document and summarize builds to ensure quality for validation
  • Plan and execute engineering builds
  • Deliver engineering battery and component samples to test locations
  • Work and lead small teams for build execution as necessary
Validation :
  • Plan and execute engineering product validation required for OE, OES and AM projects
  • Prepare and submit test requests to the test labs
  • Define and review DVP&R internally and with the customer
  • Support the PPAP package for customer approval

Knowledge & Experience that is relevant and helpful for this position
  • Chemistry knowledge
  • Battery product knowledge
  • Test validation and summary knowledge
  • Customer interface skills (Automotive preferred)
  • OE and Aftermarket test specifications experience
  • OE - Toyota experience a major plus



Job Qualifications:
Qualifications:
  • BS in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering preferred (or Mechanical or Electrical)
  • MS or PhD a plus
  • 8+ years of relevant industry experience
  • Experience in Battery, Automotive, Plant Processes preferred
  • Experience in Six Sigma methodologies preferred
  • Strong communication skills required
  • Ability to speak and write Japanese is a plus but not at all mandatory
  • Travel expectation is 10-35% between Milwaukee and other US plant facilities sites as necessary
