Sr. Product Marketing Manager
Redmond , Washington
October 20, 2017
There are millions of Windows developers worldwide, actively building solutions, apps, and services for the Windows platform and other Microsoft infrastructure. However, many of them continue to build for legacy environments and are missing out on the opportunity to build with modern Windows functionality and features like Cortana, Inking, and the Windows Store.

Windows Developer Marketing is looking for someone to develop and drive developer marketing strategies built on a deep understanding of our business, our product, and the developer audience that we serve. In this role, you will partner across a number of groups (engineering, marketing, PR and Windows) to build a pipeline of Win32 and legacy developers coming into the modern development environment, resulting in more Universal Windows Platform apps being built and deployed in large enterprise and small business alike.

You’ll need a strong technical acumen, great communication skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. We need you to work closely with the Windows engineering team on prioritizing scenarios and requirements, and we also need you to work closely with the team’s marketers to tell the stories that bring our products to life with the developer community. You’ll be our team’s interface point to all company-wide modernization efforts.

Your day-to-day will focus on three aspects:
•Crafting the “Modernize Developer” narrative: Using your understanding of developer needs and the variety of ways of building in the Windows ecosystem, you’ll craft the story we go to market with to help Technical Decision Makers (TDMs) and Solution Integrators, along with enterprise developers, modernize their skills, and build the principal features in that story.
•Converting the legacy ecosystem: You’ll help define the strategy and value proposition to help unblock modern Windows deployments in enterprise and large organizations, and work with our marketers to create marketing campaigns around this and our broader digital transformation strategy.
•Engaging our community: You’ll be the face of Windows with our commercial developer community, informally via our MVP community, at small community events, and at larger, Windows sponsored events.

Qualifications include:
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Owner/operator mentality
• Track record of influencing strategy at multiple levels, inside and outside the company
• 4+ years of development experience, preferably including both real-world Win32 and Windows 10 experiences
• 4+ years of product management or product marketing experience
• BS in a technical field, preferably computer science, or equivalent experience
• Understanding of Windows technology and products
• A business degree is a total bonus, but not required.
