Role Summary: A Senior Research scientist position for a candidate with a strong background in biology including tumor immunology, animal models, cancer biology, tissue culture, in vivo imaging and pharmacology with in vivo experience in small mammals (mice/rats) is immediately available. Experience employing in vivo efficacy studies using allograft, syngeneic, xenograft, GEMM and PDX models in order to determine the in vivo efficacy of lead immuno-therapy molecules identified by the research teams in the Oncology department. The Senior Scientist will develop a solid understanding of the biology for each of the programs being supported by the immune tumor biology groups. The candidate must function as an integral member of the in vivo biology team, responsible for all aspects of in vivo testing in a coordinated manner with other members of the in vivo team. In addition to conducting the in-life activities in support of their in vivo pharmacology studies, the Senior Scientist will also work closely with their manager and be responsible for supporting and overseeing their team's workflow, developing new in vivo models, analyzing data, and helping to integrate in vivo information into the design of new studies with the goal of advancing immunotherapeutic leads to clinical candidate therapies. Role Responsibilities: • Demonstrate a high level of independence in performing in vivo experiments, analyzing data, and drawing conclusions regarding experimental progress and results of work. Good communication regarding experiment execution and analysis with supervisor and colleagues. • Contribute to the design and performance of in vivo experiments with patient-derived cancer models, syngeneic and cell line based cancer models to support immune based therapies. Flow cytometry and live animal imaging experience required. • Perform meticulous record keeping and generate scientific reports to support preclinical cancer drug development. • Query molecular databases to identify experimental models that have desired genotypes, cancer target expression, or desired growth phenotypes. • Comply with Pfizer policies, IACUC regulations, animal use protocols, experimental study design protocols, and standard operating procedures. • Possess excellent time-management skills and manage experiments in several projects concurrently. Manage and supervise workflow of the immune-therapy in vivo group. • Accommodate a flexible schedule that may include some weekend responsibilities to ensure optimization of in vivo pharmacology workflow. • The candidate must function as an integral member of the in vivo biology team, responsible for all aspects of in vivo testing in a coordinated manner with other members of the team. • Maintain familiarity with current and emerging technologies through reading and understanding scientific and technical literature enabling the use of new and improved procedures in the laboratory. Qualifications: BS/MS in biological sciences with 10+ years of experience conducting in vivo research with rodents. Ph.D. including post-doctoral training with a minimum of 1 - 5 years of experience including rodent research as major aspect of thesis or post-doctoral experience.
