Current Need

Senior Software Engineer

Position Description
This position will come in as a Sr. Software Engineer and within a year have the ability to move into a Lead Technical role that will work with ClaimsXten (CXT) Rules Development and is responsible for working with other  team members with the task of designing, creating, and testing ClaimsXten rules and supporting applications. A rule is a software module that implements healthcare insurance claims editing logic. ClaimsXten leverages proprietary rule logic language. The position will provide technical support to QA and production systems; participate in rules requirements validation process; research and evaluate technical solutions. This person will be an integral member of the Rules Center of Excellence (RCE), a cross-functional team responsible for design and development of complex business rules and related software supporting the Integrated Network and Financial Management solutions department. He/She will work closely with the Director of Rules Development to set technical direction, define development tools, and set design and coding standards. The candidate will be responsible for supporting the team’s primary mission to streamline the rules development aimed at delivering high quality software.

 
Responsibilities:
Support all Rule development activities. Design, develop and deploy architectures and infrastructure to support CXT rules modules. Define design, development and testing standards and methods. Identify, assess and deploy rule development and testing tools. Design and develop high quality rules algorithm to meet customer requirements without compromising rule engine integrity. Perform peer reviews of the code.
 
Participate in collaborative review of functional and technical requirements documents, rule specifications, and test plans. Analyze and understand business and technical requirements. Lead rules technical design reviews ensuring efficient software design is achieved. Make sure that code produced by the team is secure, stable and scalable.
 
Research and evaluate industry trends, tools and opportunities for improving quality, efficiency and process improvement initiatives. Work to minimize manual work or eliminate unnecessary content and support maintenance.
 

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements
  • 4+ years experience in software engineering

Critical Skills

  • strong knowledge and hands-on experience with C++
  • deep understanding of development methodology and application of various methodologies
  • excellent analytical, problem solving and synthesizing skills
  • strong communication skills in technical specifications, system documentation and on-going systems support

Additional Knowledge & Skills

  • previous experience in healthcare and medical insurance claims editing software areas
  • understanding of healthcare insurance claims editing and related processes
  • Knowledge of Tcl
  • Knowledge of .Net
  • UML
  • Design patterns
  • SQL
  • Claims is preferred
  • proven ability to lead project teams to successfully deliver high quality solutions

Education

  • 4-year degree in computer science or related field or equivalent experience
