Role Summary/Purpose

The Back-end developer will be responsible for designing, developing and testing software to create solutions and services tailored to the needs of the business and its customers. Requires developed and strong foundational skills and knowledge of relevant technologies in the development, automation, and devOps space. You will be a member of an integrated team working to deliver successful outcomes around automation, software development, and the Predix platform.

Essential Responsibilities

* Responsible for defining, developing, and evolving software in a fast paced and agile development environment using the latest software development methods and infrastructure

* Support impact assessment and decision related to technology choices, design/architectural considerations, and implementation strategy

* Expert level skills in development language: Python/Java

* Collaborate with systems engineers, data scientists, frontend developers, tools owners, and software developers to implement solutions that are aligned with and extend shared platforms

* Apply principles of SDLC and methodologies like Lean/Agile/XP/CI, Software and product security, Scalability, Documentation Practices, refactoring and testing techniques


Basic Qualifications

* Bachelor's degree in Computer Science/Engineering, Information Systems, or Information Technology (OR High School diploma/GED with 2+ yrs of IS, IT, CS experience)

* Experience in Software Development

* Strong Debugging/Troubleshooting expertise

* Good Knowledge on many technology frameworks: Java, Python, Spring, MVC, AngluarJS, Polymer, ReactJS, NodeJS, NGINX, Apache, SOAP/REST webservices

* Expert level Knowledge of development tools and integrated build systems: Eclipse, Jenkins, Maven, Automated testing

* 3-5 years experience with Python or Java

* 1-2 years experience with Javascript

* 2+ years of developing restful APIs

* 2+ years experience unit testing

* 1-2 years experience with NOSQL databases

* 1-2 years experience with relational databases

* 2+ years experience with CI system to automate builds

Eligibility Requirements:

* Experience with NOSQL databases

* Experience with relational databases

* AWS/Cloudfoundry/Azure experience of some type

* Experience with CI system around build automation

* Knowledge of development tools and integrated build systems: Eclipse, Jenkins, Maven, Automated testing

* Hands-on experience developing restful APIs

* Previous experience with IaaS/PaaS offerings: AWS/Cloudfoundry

* Demonstrated ability to work effectively across functions in matrixed environment

* Strong interpersonal skills including the ability to diplomatically advocate for appropriate support staffing levels

* Ideal candidate will have experience presenting effectively to non-technical audience

* Strong analytical skills - strong problem solving skills, communicates in clear and succinct manner, and effectively evaluates information/data to make decisions.
