Prudential PGIM is seeking an experienced Sr Specialist, Database Administrator to join our team. As the Sr Specialist, Database Adminstrator you will be responsible for working with the user area to determine overall database and application requirements. Using technical and analytical expertise, you will develop recommendations for database designs and prepare detailed specifications and flowcharts.

Responsibilities:
  • Sybase / SQL Server Database Administration
  • Manage enterprise RDBMs across multiple platforms and environments - Sybase, Microsoft SQL Server, and Oracle running on Microsoft Windows, Linux (RedHat), or UNIX
  • Install and Configure Database instances
  • Restore development / test environments as per application group requirements
  • Manage autosys jobs
  • Monitor the databases, respond to alerts
  • Manage & report on capacity planning on all databases / database machines
  • Administer, maintain, develop and implement policies and procedures for ensuring the security and integrity of the database
  • Configure database log shipping / mirroring / replication
  • Assist in performance tuning - Sybase / SQL Server queries
  • Monitor Solarwinds and identify issues with application queries
  • Participate in BCP tests
  • Participate in design & configuration of database systems
  • Create / enhance and maintain documentation
  • Provide assistance for auditing
  • Administer procedures for backup/recovery, disaster recovery, and performance analysis and database tuning
  • Coordinate the installation of systems
  • Determine and resolve problems in support of production databases
  • Provide training and technical assistance to more junior staff
  • Lead others to solve complex problems; take a broad perspective to identify innovative solutions
  • Work independently, with guidance in only the most complex situations
  • May lead teams or projects

Qualifications:
  • Knowledge of Sybase (SAP ASE 16)/ SQL Server / Replication Server
  • At least 5-8 years of experience in Sybase and SQL Server, Oracle is plus
  • Knowledge of Sybase / SQL Server Replication - related to implementing and monitoring data replication between heterogeneous platforms
  • Knowledge of Jira/Confluence/Jenkins
  • Knowledge of k-shell scripting, Perl, Windows command line and Powershell
  • Knowledge of database connectivity - JDBC, ODBC, CLI
  • Hardware knowledge a plus
  • Must be a self starter
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, related field or equivalent work experience required
