LinkedIn is looking for an energetic Systems Engineer with a strong technical background in information technology and operations. This engineer will be part of a team that is responsible for providing strong technical services for Enterprise Applications including but not limited to Google Apps, Enterprise Search, Box, Confluence, Okta, Wiki, etc. The person will be a key liaison between IT, Engineering, business units and will be responsible for understanding business processes / needs, managing the technical complexities of the applications, documenting and developing education/training for users of the application as well as working with developers and/or vendors to design the application feature roadmap. This is a fast-paced position that requires a high degree of energy and focus without compromising quality. Key criteria to success will be the ability to quickly assess technical details, troubleshoot systems, be cognizant of application security, build product knowledge and build strong relationships with business units and end users.
Responsibilities: Support the management of our Linux fleet using the system tools and LinkedIn monitoring platforms. Monitor operational and performance statistics for systems. Ensure servers and applications are compliant with established standards, policies, and configurations. Create and maintain technical documentation regarding design documents, operational drawings/guides Develop, maintain, and report on patch / update deployments. Serve as a primary point responsible for the overall health, performance, and capacity of one or more of our Internet-facing services Gain deep knowledge of our complex applications. Assist in the roll-out and deployment of new product features and installations to facilitate our rapid iteration and constant growth. Develop tools to improve our ability to rapidly deploy and effectively monitor custom applications in a large-scale Linux environment. Work closely with development teams to ensure that platforms are designed with "operability" in mind. Function well in a fast-paced, rapidly-changing environment. Participate in a 24x7 rotation for second-tier escalations.
Basic Qualifications: B. . /B. . in a technical field, or equivalent practical experience. 5+ years of experience in systems engineering, and management. Experience with Multi Operating System Platforms (Linux or Windows) Experience in Programming / Scripting using one of the following languages (Bash, Python, Perl, Powershell) Experience with Java application framework (i. . Tomcat, Weblogic, etc. ) Experience with web server technology (i. . Apache, IIS, etc. )
Preferred Qualifications: 5+ years in a large-scale infrastructure role.
Experience in MySQL server including but not limited to Database management, writing. queries, maintenance, installation/configuration and troubleshooting. Exposure and support of virtualized desktops and applications. Basic Google Apps knowledge.
Previous experience in enterprise O365 rollouts. Experience with Azure / Office 365 Suite Implementation / Integration. Strong interpersonal communication skills (including listening, speaking, and writing) and ability to work well in a diverse, team-focused environment with other site reliability engineering, Product Managers, etc. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
