Our **Validation Team** , part of the **File** **A** **ccess Protocols Engineering organization** , is seeking a **Senior-level Software Design Validation Engineer** to join their team. As part of Isilon’s core product strategy, we enable our thousands of customers to work at a scale that wasn't previously possible by shipping a true clustered file system that can be expanded from a few dozen terabytes up to many petabytes. The goal is to package game changing technology, un-paralleled scalability, and record breaking performance into a product that is simple to manage and continuously delights our customers. We are looking for a person who is not only capable of working on hard technical problems, but excels at cross team collaboration and providing technical leadership to junior validation developers. If you are interested in building complex systems with high quality, and like working in a fast paced environment with smart, passionate engineers we want to hear from you! **JOB SUMMARY** As a Senior Software Development Validation Engineer, you will work within a development team to drive product features from initial requirements to final completion in Isilon’s OneFS product releases. Your knowledge in software quality, testing strategies, and client/server interoperability will help us create industry leading products for the Isilon Storage Division within EMC 2 . **PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES** + Help build our internal product around test and software quality. + Define the quality strategy for a feature and identify the appropriate success metrics. + Demonstrate effective verbal and written communication skills across multiple teams to obtain test requirements, build a detailed validation plan, and successfully execute according to an agreed upon schedule. + Provide high fidelity feedback to development teams for identified feature defects. + Build and integrate API and feature level frameworks and tests. + Execution of committed test plans developed by yourself or other engineers. + Contribute to the culture of quality throughout our broader engineering organization. + Share experiences and skills to aid team members in enhancing their professional skills and career. + Possess a strong aptitude exploring new technologies and understanding how to apply them to new product releases and in customer facing support scenarios. **CANDIDATE REQUIRMENTS** + BS in Computer Science or related technical field, and 4+ years industry experience with network protocols, UNIX/Linux systems software development, or related field. + Experience working on one or more product release cycles. + Broad understanding of software testing methodologies. + Ability to participate in code reviews across both feature and test code. + Programming in Python or C/C++. Experience with similar languages will be considered. + Candidates may also possess any of these highly desired skills: + Experience with NFS, SMB, or other network file system or object protocol. + An understanding of the UNIX operating environment. + Knowledge of distributed software solutions. **EMC Values:** When you choose our company, you join a diverse world of innovative thought leaders.
