Accountemps is looking for a Staff Accountant for a short term temporary-to-fulltime position. The Staff Accountant is responsible for preparing journal entries, monthly and year-end closings, bank reconciliation, fixed asset maintenance, and general ledger reconciliation. You will be responsible for many aspects of internal reporting during the monthly close. You will assist with the development and implementation of accounting policies. In addition, you will take part in SOX compliance, review schedules for the 10Q and 10K reporting processes, and interact with our external auditors for quarterly reviews and annual audits. This position is very involved as it will produce Financial Statements, Cash Flow projections, and Budgets. Key responsibilities - Assist in implementation, maintenance and adherence to internal controls under SOX and accounting procedures ensuring compliance with GAAP - Maintain fixed asset ledger, depreciation, and reconciliation - Participate in various initiatives spanning multiple departments - Manage the design and creation of balance sheet analysis and communicate reports to management - Support capital lease and monthly payment schedules - Play a role in the month end, quarter end and year end closing process including monthly financial close workbook preparation - Complete month end close, journal entries, without supervision - Ad-hoc reporting and special projects, as requested - Commentate on a wide variety of financial data and communicate it in a useful and understandable manner - Be responsible for account reconciliations including prepaid expenses, payroll, and other assignments
