Staff Software Engineer: LifeScan, Inc. is seeking Staff Software Engineer for Wayne, Pennsylvania facility to develop and review requirements specifications, including software requirements specifications, and user interface requirements specifications for software applications on embedded and mobile platforms. Develop functional prototypes for device user interfaces, and develop robust and testable production software for medical devices, including blood glucose monitors and insulin delivery devices. The candidate will develop software using modern high-level programming languages, such as C, C++, and Java; develop system architecture for systems of medical devices; and document system architecture, using industry standard tools such as UML. Develop and implement policies and procedures in accordance with guidance and standards from international regulatory bodies (FDA, CE, ISO).
Position requires a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or Electrical Engineering and six years of experience in software development lifecycle in a globally regulated environment. Experience with modern high-level programming languages and tools, including C, C++, Java, and UML, is required. Must have experience with modern software lifecycle tools and processes, including version control systems and static code analysis tools. Must have experience with software development for embedded devices running on architectures, such as the Texas Instruments MSP chipsets, in addition to experience working with product development and release cycles. Must also have experience with software development for mobile phone applications. Experience with design control systems in global regulatory environments, and system architecture and design is required. Candidate must possess experience authoring technical requirements, and performing risk analysis for software products and medical device systems. Prior experience with intellectual property, specifically preparing technical materials for inclusion with patent applications, is required. Must also possess experience working with embedded devices, specifically medical devices used for insulin delivery and blood glucose monitors, and experience working in compliance with relevant industry standards, including IEEE-11073, IEC 62304, ISO 14971, IEC 62366 and procedures associated with medical devices. Must have experience with wireless protocols such as Bluetooth and GSM, and experience applying wireless protocols in medical devices. Up to 10% domestic and international travel is required.
