This role is to manage and maintain supplier and supplier processes. Provide engineering support with a focus on supplier quality activities and supplier management. Facilitate understanding of product specifications to allow for supplier delivery of product requirements. Supervise the resolution of quality issues and lead supplier quality team for designated commodity(ies). Provide leadership, project management, and mentoring to engineers and team members. Develop and maintain supplier base processes for process characterization and manufacturing qualifications (IOPQ) of medical devices. Partner internally and externally to evaluate and select potential suppliers and external manufacturers. Translate abstract project concepts or requirements into meaningful, actionable deliverables and plans. Support multiple suppliers and programs concurrently. Direct and participate in special projects as requested by Management.    


Key Responsibilities:

  • Support external suppliers through managing the qualification of supplier products and processes, analyzing and resolving supplier quality issues

  • Initiate and manage projects to improve quality, yields and value received from the supply base

  • Develop and execute comprehensive quality strategies for design development, verification and validation

  • Partner with Procurement, GTO, R&D, QRC and other departments to ensure products are efficiently and effectively transferred and integrated into steady state manufacturing

  • Participate in evaluation and selection of potential suppliers and external manufacturers

  • Support/manage base-business activities

  • Performs other duties as assigned by management

Other Duties:

  • Partner externally and internally (JJDCC/MD/Enterprise) to provide quality assessment and supplier quality support
  • Support cross-functional teams in critical, complex projects of major impact on business unit sales and profitability

  • Support supplier quality management in executing tactical activities sustaining corporate initiatives and/or departmental objectives

  • Lead or support troubleshooting activities, validations, and raw material/process improvements

  • Partner internally and externally to compile and evaluate test data to perform root cause analysis of raw material failures

  • Direct and participate in special projects as requested by Management

  • Decide quality direction and support of new, existing or modified manufacturing processes, including production scale-up

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering/Science field is required, Master’s degree is preferred

  • A minimum number of 6 years of equivalent experience is required

  • Must possess knowledge of working in Medical Device industry

  • Familiarity with FDA regulated environment

  • Knowledge of manufacturing methods (SMT, injection molding, mechanical assembly and test)

  • Knowledge of supplier and external Manufacturing Quality Management experience desired

  • Serve as the technical expert for supplier quality and assigned area of expertise, with conceptual knowledge of all functions and business areas

  • Ability to influence others to achieve business objectives

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

  • Strong technical writing skills
