The Capacity Planning & Performance Optimization function is responsible for tracking and forecasting organic and project-driven demand for infrastructure, and reconciling that demand to available capacity.  This includes predicting usage of existing infrastructure, optimizing performance, and planning capacity for the introduction of new services over time.  The Analysts on this team play a critical role in ensuring infrastructure and application stability, as well as optimizing the environment for peak efficiency and cost containment.

    

  • Assists in providing storage utilization, usage, and allocation information for use in planning and forecasting activities
  • Perform storage capacity reporting using existing tools and applications
  • Work with application and business partners in planning, forecasting and chargeback related questions and issues.
  • Assists in gathering information related to incidents, service requests and overall capacity plans
  • Assist in planning and executing regular storage capacity reviews with business and application partners

 

Required:

  • 2-4 years proven experience in IT Storage infrastructure support and management, including I/O performance analysis.
  • Knowledge of Storage infrastructure; SAN, NAS, Brocade and Cisco switches, virtualization, replication, thin provisioning, storage pools, etc.
  • Understanding and some experience with virtualization technologies such as VMware and AIX platforms
  • Aptitude in Excel and data analysis / trending
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills and exceptional customer service orientation.

     

Preferred:

  • Experience with Dell/EMC storage platforms and tools.
  • Knowledge of operating system (Windows, Linux, AIX, series) configuration and performance metrics.
  • Knowledge of cloud storage technology and concepts
  • Bachelor’s degree in related field
