Amgen is seeking a Strategic Planning and Operations Senior Manager. This Sr. Manager will provide comprehensive business, operational, and project support to the Cardiovascular and Metabolic Global Development Therapeutic Area (TA) function and its leadership. This role will have solid line reporting to the Vice President of the Cardiometabolic Therapeutic Area Head. Key projects (Corporate, Department, and Therapeutic Area) will be part of this role when executed successfully.
Key activities include:
Provide operational support to VP/ Therapeutic Area Head including strategic planning and communications, project management and implementation of functional projects
Support for TA leadership through issue tracking, problem solving, organizational management, and presentation development
Identify and drive resolution of issues within the Therapeutic Area and at interfaces to other R&D functions, other geographic regions and the Commercial organization; appropriate escalation of issues to VP/TAH
Manage and Facilitate Therapeutic Area Technical Review Committee (TA-TRC) governance committee
Manage and Facilitate key departmental meetings (All Staff, Senior Leadership Teams, Program Development Strategy Teams)
Facilitate Therapeutic Area goal setting and manage against progress
Act as a sounding board/advisor to the TA Head on key activities and issues
Represent the Therapeutic Area business strategy and guide the activities of other functions such as Human Resources, Finance, Corporate Communications in support of TA objectives
Development and execution of TA communications
Manage TA headcount through structured meetings to review openings, provide departmental consistency, and support HR activity
Develop and manage functional budget, contribute to the global budget process
Support cross-functional business initiatives as assigned
Ensure staff compliance with Amgen corporate and departmental training and SOP review
Contribute to the development of relevant policies, SOPs and associated documents
Identify training, mentoring plans and on-boarding development needs for staff and assist in developing the talent pool
Basic Qualifications:
Doctorate degree and 2 years of Strategic Planning and Operations experience
OR
Master's degree and 6 years of Strategic Planning and Operations experience
OR
Bachelor's degree and 8 years of Strategic Planning and Operations experience
OR
Associate's degree and 10 years of Strategic Planning and Operations experience
OR
High school diploma / GED and 12 years of Strategic Planning and Operations experience
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's in Business Administration
Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills
Experience facilitating workshops and group meetings
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, EPIC, Box, and EDM Teams
High self-confidence and self-motivation
Strong critical and analytical thinking
Demonstrated success in Change Management
Ability to thrive in an ambiguous environment with little oversight
Exceptional time management and self-prioritization
Financial budgeting and variance reporting experience
Solid understanding of success in a matrix environment
Ability to engage different personalities and levels within the organization, particularly senior and executive management
Ability to influence, negotiate, and resolve conflict
Good knowledge of clinical development and drug development
