The role of the Strategic System Lead is to expand the sales of Ethicon products for their designated region and provide total account management perspective in support of regional priorities, focusing specifically as the Ethicon sales lead for the BJC and Mercy IDN affiliate accounts. This will include increasing sales and market share through the proper partnership and collaboration of multiple business stakeholders, including Strategic Account Management, Professional Education, and other business alliances. These Specialists will partner with the local sales reps and sales leadership to identify critical business accounts and hospital systems that need additional support to defend or convert business. Specialists will support the regional member through their clinical expertise, understanding of full account management, and as an additional resource for large, critical institutions.
Additional job responsibilities include: Knowing and following Ethicon US LLC policies & procedures & assuring that direct reports know & follow Ethicon US LLC policies & procedures related to work activities performed in area of responsibility. Complete training in area of responsibility & assure that direct reports are trained in area of responsibility within allowed time-period. Training is required for changes in existing policies & procedures, for new assignments & for implementation of new policies & procedures. Complete required periodic re-training & assure that required periodic re-training takes place for direct reports in areas such as safety & environmental. Set standards for safe behavior. Recognize & reward safe behavior in others. Ensure that direct reports employ safe practices. Enforce safety policies & procedures. Evaluate staff member’s safety performance & insure that safety is a part of each direct report’s GPMS. Provide resources (time & money) necessary to maintain safety process. Ensure safety structure is in place in the form of working committees & department coordinators. Accountable to understanding the regional business plan and collaborating with the Sales Director and Division Sales Managers to understand business priorities and account targets. Collaborate with enabling functions (Prof Ed, Strategic Account Management) to drive the targeted strategy within the region. Understand and demonstrate proper and detailed surgical use of our products to clinical and non-clinical stakeholders. Ability to handle customer product questions and objections consistent with sales training methodology and execute the selling cycle in a manner that is concise, professional, ethical and persuasive and which leads the customer to action. Educate and coach other sales employees as determined by regional needs. Focus on managing and executing against priority account conversions and competitive situations. Enable dedicated representatives to focus on deepening relationships in existing accounts, driving the account strategy forward and building individual capabilities. Call on new customers aligned with regional strategies. Support new product launches

In order to be considered for this role, an undergraduate Bachelor’s Degree (or equivalent) in an applicable field is required. Three to five years of outside sales experience is preferred. Operating room / medical device sales experience is preferred. Documentation of successful sales performance is preferred. The ability to work in a lab or an operating room environment is required. The ability to target accounts and achieve results through a daily action plan, and be able to collaborate with other J&J associates (peers, marketing, Strategic Account Managers, etc.), external companies (distributors) and key opinion leaders is preferred. Strong business planning skills are required. A valid driver's license issued in one of the 50 United States is required. The ability to travel, including overnight and/or weekends, up to 80% of the time is also required.
