Roles & Responsibilities:
The Stroke Program Coordinator Registered Nurse responsible for coordinating, developing and implementing Tulane Medical Center's Stroke Program. The Coordinator provides expertise in stroke management nursing to facilitate the development and maintenance of quality, cost effective patient care. Also, the Coordinator is responsible for assessing and evaluating patient needs and follow up care, including providing specialized education for patients and families pertaining to stroke intervention, prevention and rehabilitation for in-patients. The Stroke Program Coordinator works collaboratively with other members of the Stroke Program team to provide optimal stroke care, and to participate in quality improvement and research activities associated with advancing the body of knowledge in stroke. The Stroke Program Coordinator is responsible for facilitating and coordinating all key elements of the Joint Commission Stroke Center certification process, including development and review or protocols, initial and ongoing training, performance improvement and community outreach. The Stroke Program Coordinator serves as a liaison between the Stroke Service and other clinical and supportive services. Performs other duties as assigned.
Licensure/Certification/Registration: Current Louisiana RN license, CPR certification
Education: Bachelor of nursing degree preferred .
Experience: Previous experience in clinical area of assignment preferred .
Special qualifications: Must be able to successfully complete established
competencies for the position within designated probationary period .
Hours of work: Shift as scheduled.
