Adecco is assisting an Incorporated Village in a search of a Superintendent of Public Works located in Nassau County, Long Island. The ideal candidate will have at least four years of experience in implementing public works projects, administrative, supervisory and public works of operations of street maintenance and repair. This position will oversee the daily operations of the Public Works Department, including sewer collection system, water treatment, street and storm sewers and building and grounds. Qualifications and Responsibilities: Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering and at least four years of experience in public works. A satisfactory driving record and appropriate New York driver's license. Must be able to schedule, coordinate and manage various projects. Experience in directing and delegating work to all employees in the Public Works division, sanitation, water, sewer and maintenance garage. Must be able to present the top plans to the appropriate department heads for consideration and then delegate work to the staff once the project has been selected and approved. Skilled at budgeting, planning, communicating and building relationships both internally and externally. Excellent organizational skills and capable of prioritizing the work schedule. Must be able to lead by example, act and behave ethically. Have a strong understanding of government practices and to ensure the behavior of others are consistent with the standards and values of the Village.
