Automate a major data center. We currently have 21,000 servers and 131,000 virtual machines and we've just started phase 2 of 4. We'll be installing 80 racks of new equipment in the next two months. Looking to learn something new? Product Development I.T. thrives on new technologies and rapid change. We do common System Administrator activities, we just do them 152,000 times. Can you automate common tasks?

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Automation of physical and virtual server deployment, troubleshooting and maintenance
  • Server hardware troubleshooting and replacement
  • OS level diagnostics and resolution
  • Installation of new equipment
  • Consolidation and removal of old equipment
  • Off-shift support for machine moves, quarterly maintenance or coverage for other shifts
  • Growth of technical skills to greater depth and breadth
Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Background
  • Significant Python skills. Other languages, like JavaScript, are helpful as well.
  • Knowledge of Oracle Linux, RedHat and/or CentOS platforms
  • Experience installing, configuring, and maintaining Linux desktops or servers
  • Good technical knowledge of current network hardware and standards
  • Ability to conduct research into Linux issues and products as required
  • Hands-on hardware and software troubleshooting experience

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Background
  • Certification(s) in Linux administration on any distribution
  • Familiarity with TCP/IP protocols
  • Experience installing, configuring, and maintaining Linux, Linux services, and Linux networking
  • Abilities with other operating systems such as Windows, Solaris, HP-UX or AIX
  • Experience with virtualization frameworks such as Oracle VM Server, VirtualBox, Xen or VMWare ESX
Work Conditions

Define, design, and implement network communications and solutions within a fast-paced, leading edge database/applications company.

Perform performance trend analysis and manage the server/network capacity. Propose client configuration and implement technical solutions to enhance and/or troubleshoot the system. Work with others to define, coordinate vendor purchase needs. Responsible for support documentation as well.

Job duties are varied and complex utilizing independent judgment. May have project lead role. 5 years of related experience in a medium to large network distributed and computing environment. BS in Computer Science or related field.
