Responsible for designing and implementation of Carrier customer services while maintaining, defining, and supporting documentation. The Systems Support Engineer will work closely with other key departments including but not limited to: backbone engineering, sales engineering, project management, and field operations.

  • Provides quality internal and external customer service surrounding the Company values
  • Prepare reliable Preliminary and Backbone circuit designs in Visio (and future OSS) for installation, switch and service technicians to use to complete customer orders
  • Verify bandwidth and port availability to satisfy customer service requirements; as well as create service circuit ID's when automation is not available
  • Update and maintain accurate records (Excel spreadsheets and more) for all relevant data being tracked (ex. Provisioning Workbook, OCN Tracker)
  • Support and provide necessary authorization and documentation for all Type 2 requests
  • Communicate with customers in troubleshooting new installations or answering technical questions.
  • Be able to review, troubleshoot, and correct router/switch configurations based on design parameters.
  • Advising key departments of any required upgrades to networking equipment
  • Engineer and design strategic voice, video, or data service to produce a robust, cost-effective strategic networking solution
  • Collaborate with other providers of equipment or services, including system engineering teams within Altice to develop winning solutions for customer's data, voice, or video network requirements
  • Maintain current knowledge of industry and emerging technology trends
  • Performs other duties as assigned

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science or related field or equivalent experience is preferred
  • Proficiency in using a Windows-based computer
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Powerpoint, Visio, Outlook
  • Keyboarding skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong negotiation, problem solving and analytical skills
  • Strong people and relationship management skills
  • Ability to prioritize and organize effectively
  • Ability to analyze accurately with attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and with others

  • 2 - 5 years network engineering/administrator experience preferred
  • 2 - 5 years network troubleshooting experience preferred
  • 3+ year experience designing voice/data LAN/WAN (VLAN and TCP/IP Networks) preferred
  • Industry networking certifications including CCNA or CCDA or equivalent certification required
  • CCIE, JNTCP, and/or MEF CECP2.0 certifications desired
  • Basic understanding of OCN, Sonet, TDM, Docsis \
