This position is responsible for design, installation, support and availability of the z/OS operating system and all related third party software products. This position requires participation in third party software upgrades for mainframe infrastructure projects, problem
determination and diagnostics, interfacing with other mainframe disciplines, and providing general day to day support of the environment. Client is looking for a seasoned z/OS Mainframe System Programmer with 8 + years of 'hands on' experience along with a solid background in installation and maintenance of the commonly used third party products such CA Endevor, CA Database Management Solution, BMC, DB2 Connect, IBM Infosphere CDC, Shadow Direct.

*Planning mainframe third party software upgrades and changes in configuration
*Training system operators and application programmers on latest version of third party mainframe products, tools and utilities
*Capacity planning
*Running installation jobs and scripts to install and upgrade third party mainframe products, tools and utilities
*Performing installation-specific customization tasks
*Integration-testing upgraded products with existing applications and user procedures
*System-wide performance tuning to meet required levels of service
*Experience in downloading, installing and configuring third part vendor tool/utilities for z/OS mainframe
*Experience is installing and managing third party mainframe products like CA Database Management Solutions Suite, CA RC Query, CA Endevor, BMC DASD Manager, DB2 Connect, IBM Infosphere CDC
*Experience working in an environment with TSO/ISPF, Z/OS, MVS, JCL,REXX, CICS, DB2, SMS, COBOL and IMS
*Experience with troubleshooting and debugging system environment related issues
*Experience in customization and execution of third party vendor provided installation scripts/JCL to upgrade existing mainframe product, tools and utilities
*Knowledge of techniques and methodologies relating to software quality assurance and testing through the full systems development lifecycle
*Ability to manage time, milestones, and be self-directed
*Excellent verbal and written communication skills -Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Computer Engineering, Math, or Engineering or related technical degree from an appropriately accredited institution and 8 years of experience in mainframe system consulting and development.
