Systems Engineer I - Process Improvement - Root Cause Analysis

The Systems Engineer I – Root Cause Analysis is responsible root cause analysis of trouble tickets and incidents within the Video Operations department. This position will report to the Manager as a part of the Process Improvement team.
  • Provide Root Cause Analysis (RCA) of incident tickets assigned to Video Operations
  • Responsible for reliable, consistent operation of these systems to provide a quality entertainment and information experience for our customers
  • Performs essential duties related to the maintenance and enhancement of networks, hardware, and software systems; includes troubleshooting, escalations, upgrades
  • Administering Linux/Unix systems
Basic Qualifications
  • Minimum of one (1) year of systems administration experience
  • Minimum of one (1) year of knowledge of application configuration, programming, installation, and maintenance
  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience providing root cause analysis of ticketed incidents
  • Bachelor’s degree (BA/BS) from four-year college or university; or equivalent training, education, and experience
Additional Job Requirements
  • Experience working with and administering Unix/Linux operating systems; specifically experience with RedHat, and Solaris
  • Experience working with video solutions and technologies; that includes MPEG2, MPEG4, transcoding, IP Video Delivery solutions, LAN/WAN design and operations, HFC networks, IP Multi-cast
  • Experience with network monitoring systems (Netcool, Big Brother), ticketing management systems (Remedy, Jira) and video analysis tools such as Tektronix Sentry, IneoQuest (IQ) iVMS or cVOC a plus.
  • Must be able to commit to a Monday – Friday 8am to 5pm work schedule
Preferred Skills
  • Working experience within Telecommunications industry
  • System Administration of complex Unix environments and associated certifications (RHCSA, RHCE)
  • Experience working with Conditional Access controllers such as Cisco DNCSs and Arris DACs
