Network Operations is looking for System Engineer IVs in Video Operations Engineering. These senior engineers will be responsible for providing ongoing analysis of video platforms to ensure they are operating as expected and find potential opportunities for improvement. Senior Engineers will serve as an escalation point for the Support Center in troubleshooting issues including advanced vendor escalations and management. As a member of the Video Operations Engineering team partner with Product, AE and SE teams to provide operational feedback to their video efforts and audit all handoffs for operational readiness. These directors will responsible for training the rest of the Video Operations team in build and support activities.

  • Operationalize engineering changes to ensure they are production ready
  • Ensure changes Do No Harm
  • Provide training and documentation to Support and Planning and Implementation teams
  • Provide operational design guidance to Advanced Engineering and Software Engineering for future technology plans
Be the team that solves wicked hard problems
  • To be the most technically proficient team at Charter on Video Application Platform, Mystro Backoffice and/or Video Microservices operating in AWS (Amazon Web Services) and VM Ware.
  • Be the team that others come to when they can’t figure something out
  • Perform initial complex implementations
  • Oversee production defect management
Help the 24x7 Video Support Center be successful
  • Train and equip consumer organization personnel with knowledge and tools to resolve 90% of any issues they encounter.
  • Ensure AWS Systems capacity is managed
  • Drive tools development that detect and prevent outages and implement them.
  • Manage Vendor Relationships Actively and consistently support all efforts to simplify and enhance the customer experience.
This position(s) requires an experienced Senior Engineer with an extensive background working with the Mystro Back Office (MBO) and all of its applications, including: VOD, RTA (Start Over and Look Back), Dynamic Ad Insertion, Caller ID on TV, Voice Zone, Remote DVR, VOD Portal, Advanced Search, among others.
This role will primarily be responsible for leading initial deployment efforts on the MBO, including performing upgrades, improving our virtualized platform, applying and/or supporting patches and working closely with our vendor partners.


Ability to read, write and speak the English language

Ability to make decisions and solve problems while working under pressure
5+ years of experience working on Linux or other Unix systems.
Experience with software source control tools such as Perforce or get
Experience with Linux shell scripting environments such as bash.
Ability to write clear technical documentation for use by developers and testers and engineers
Ability to work under limited direction and handle multiple assignments simultaneously
Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills
Should be a leader that can facilitate and build team consensus and interact with both the leadership and the implementation teams.
This position may require working maintenance window to apply system updates.
Great attention to detail
Experience with virtualized platforms, VMware, VMware Cloud Forms and/or other virtual platforms such as OpenStack or AWS


2+ years using dynamic scripting languages such as Python, Ruby, or Groovy.
2+ years using tools for deploying software such as expect, Chef, or Puppet
3+ years of experience driving new systems implementation and improvements with an excellent on-time track record.
1+ year of Splunk application dashboard experience is a strong plus.
Hands on operational experience in performing video devices or systems upgrades, and Break/Fix activities.
Must be willing to provide product support after hours and on weekends
Excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills
Experience with databases such as Oracle, preferably Oracle RAC
Experience with NFS storage systems.
Experience with understanding DNS workflows, submitting and deleting DNS records.
Strong knowledge of Cisco DNCS and/or Motorola DAC digital video controller systems along with associated technologies required for delivery of video is a plus.
Industry and vendor specific certifications and training
Bachelor's degree in engineering, Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experience
