Position Purpose:

A Technical Consultant works in a team environment while setting up servers to be installed at client sites located throughout the country.  Travel to these client sites is a primary component to the position.  The role allows you to grow your technical abilities while working with AIX, Linux and Windows Server operating systems.  There are opportunities to hone your troubleshooting and training skills while working through projects and cases with clients.

Essential Job Responsibilities:  

  • Perform server installations at client sites.
  • Configure servers for use with various Fiserv solutions.
  • Work client cases from inception to resolution while managing client expectations.
  • Place outbound client calls as part of project work.
  • Compose or review technical documentation such as knowledge base solutions, log support activity and draft requests for program changes.
  • Conduct client and peer-to-peer training.
  • Performs other duties as required.

Required Qualifications:

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or similar education in a related discipline is preferred.
  • Related work experience may be substituted for educational requirement.

Job Related Experience:

  • Hands-on work with networking, PCs and operating systems.
  • Call center or other phone work experience.
  • Customer service experience.
  • Experience with AIX or other versions of Unix.
  • Experience with Linux.
  • Experience with Windows Server and SQL.
  • Experience with server virtualization concepts.

Additional Skills/Knowledge:

Travel Required:

  • Frequency of travel 33%.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Unix and Windows Server experience.
  • Three years of relevant phone support and technical work experience.
