This position will be responsible for coordinating and executing tax processing tasks for Brighthouse Financials Tax Department, including assembling, filing (both paper and electronic), scanning, and tracking tax returns, estimates, and extensions.  Other tax processing duties include requesting and coordinating the receipt of payments from Brighthouse Financial Accounts Payable for tax filings, and accepting, processes, and tracking refund payments from various taxing authorities. 


  • Prepares state and local tax returns in accordance with current laws and interpretations.
  • Analyzes and pays tax assessments in a timely manner.
  • Maintains a detailed log of all tax filings for management reports
  • Assist in state and local tax audits
  • Monitors state and local developments and notifies management accordingly.
  • Prepares simple and assist in the preparation of complex Statutory and GAAP provisions.
  • Meets financial reporting and statutory compliance deadlines.


  • This is an entry level tax accounting position which requires little to no experience
  • BA/BS degree in Accounting or Taxation Degree.
  • Must have good oral, written communication skills, analytical and interpersonal skills.  As well as the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Requires knowledge of computer systems. PC’s and associated software packages.
  • Requires a high degree of professionalism, sound judgement and discretion in contacts with management and outside organizations.
