The primary role of the intern is to gain exposure to the overall operations of Office Depot. Interns will be assigned work related to their major. The intern will complete one or more projects involving program creation, maintenance, communication, implementation and analyze the results for their assigned departments. Interns will also assist with other duties within the their department as needed. At the end of the 12-week internship, the intern will present their project/s to Sr. management and above.
The intern will gain exposure in each of the four primary functions of a corporate tax department: Planning, Accounting, Compliance, and Defense.
The intern will be able to articulate the framework of taxation in the United States on its citizens and businesses. This includes understanding the role that Congress, the Department of Treasury and the IRS have in drafting, enacting and enforcing tax legislation.
Assists the Office Depot tax department in complying with federal, state and foreign tax compliance, assist in the tax accounting process supporting the financial statement preparation, respond to taxing authority requests for information and related audit support.
