This Tax Manager position has primary responsibilities over federal tax returns preparation and review, accounting for income taxes recorded under NAIC Statutory accounting principles, and internal control process for life and annuity insurance companies. The successful candidate will have broad exposure to general income tax principles as well as specialized tax and accounting experience in the life insurance industry.
o Responsible for coordinating preparation and review of life insurance company tax returns
o Preparation and review of quarterly and annual recording of income taxes under SSAP 101 (NAIC statutory accounting)
o Preparation and coordination of tax financial statement internal controls processes, including monitoring, assessing, measuring, and documenting uncertain tax positions in accordance with GAAP and SSAP accounting principles.
o Preparation and review of life/nonlife consolidated return
o Oversight and management of tax provision system, including identifying efficiency recommendations
o Management and review of tax staff and seniors to ensure timely and accurate completion of tax compliance and financial reporting deadlines
o Research and author memos on technical tax and accounting matters
o Assist with merger and acquisition activity including structure design and due diligence to ensure tax efficiency of business transactions
o Serve as subject matter expert on selected tax areas
o Mentor and train junior staff.
o Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting
o 6 Years of corporate tax experience
Required Certification(s), degree(s), license(s)
o Master’s degree in taxation
o Excellent written and oral communication skills
