Amgen is searching for a Senior Manager, Tax Provision. This role will be based on our main corporate campus in Thousand Oaks, California and will report to a Director within the Tax Reporting group. Amgen's Tax Reporting group contains both the tax provision and tax compliance responsibilities. The tax provision team is a critical function providing advice on tax accounting, tax rate forecasting and is highly regarded as an integral part of the financial statement preparation process. This group works closely with finance, accounting and treasury in order to accurately and timely forecast the tax impacts and report on our results.
The Senior Manager, Tax Provision will provide support to senior members of the Tax Reporting team by performing tax accounting technical research and analyses.
Advise on tax provision implications of including: planning, transactional activities, audits, transfer pricing, and compliance.
Performing tax accounting support and technical research with respect to various domestic and international issues.
Providing tax accounting support in connection with domestic and international mergers & acquisitions, reorganizations, and restructurings.
Assist with preparation and review of the quarterly tax provision.
Assist with tax compliance review.
Liaise with Tax Planning, Tax Audit and Transfer Pricing members of the Tax Group with respect to various tax accounting matters.
Doctorate degree AND 2 years of Tax experience
Master's degree AND 4 years of Tax experience
Bachelor's degree AND 6 years of Tax experience
Associate's degree AND 10 years of Tax experience
High school diploma / GED AND 12 years Tax experience
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance, CPA and graduate degree highly preferred.
Minimum 6+ years of overall tax experience with an emphasis on tax accounting issues working for a large accounting firm (Big 4 preferred) or a large, multi-national publicly traded company or a combination thereof.
Strong understanding of ASC740 Income Taxes and experience with uncertain tax positions.
Pharmaceutical, biotech or high tech industry experience.
Understanding of transfer pricing rules.
Result-oriented tax professional able to succeed in a fast paced environment with minimal guidance.
Excellent analytical skills.
Strong organizational and project management skills.
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work in a team-oriented environment.
