The Team Lead, Claims is responsible for leading a team of Long Term Disability (LTD) claim professionals including determination and payment authorization of claims.

In this leadership role, you will:

Coach, supervise, and manage performance of employees (both technical performance and behaviors)

Provide guidance to subordinates regarding general claim policy, contracts, and terminology

Partner with peer leadership group and contribute to the department's success by engaging in continuous improvement

Review complex claim cases, influence and interact with professional clinical and vocational resources

Communicate with clients, state insurance departments and other internal and external areas.

Be well versed in both technical and administrative responsibilities.

This position will be filled in the Portland, ME office. The incumbent will be accountable for oversight and supervision of a Long Term Disability Claims Team of approximately 10 associates.


Qualifications:
Bachelors Degree preferred

Understanding of Absence, STD and LTD product lines with experience of at least five plus years in a disability claim organization preferred

Demonstrated leadership skills a must

Supervisory experience preferred, but not required

Prior experience with Claim Management processes

Ability to problem solve independently

Demonstrated focus on continuous improvement

Strong communication (verbal and written) and time management skills required

Proficiency in MS Word and Excel

Strong critical thinking, mathematical, problem solving, decision making & analytical skills are desired

Detail oriented with solid interpersonal skills

Demonstrated strong Customer Service skills and ability to partner
