Morgan Stanley Wealth Management (MSWM) Technology is the global technology department responsible for the design, development, delivery and support of the technical solutions behind the products and services used by the Morgan Stanley Wealth Management (MSWM) business. The department is comprised of 10 organizations: Sales, Banking & Corporate-Client Technology, Investment Products & Markets Technology, Client Reporting, Core Processing, Private and International Wealth Management Technology, Technology Integration Office, Enterprise Infrastructure & Production Management, Capital Markets Application & Data Services, Deployment Planning & Release Management, and the Chief Operating Office. Morgan Stanley Wealth Management (MSWM) Technology works with large scale databases such as DB2 and SQL Server, proprietary and non-proprietary messaging software, a broad variety of vendor products, numerous financial exchanges and regulatory entities, and programming languages ranging from .Net and Java to Cobol and VB.Net.

Morgan Stanley has recently embarked on an aggressive strategy to increase capabilities and assets in the banking space (deposits, lending, etc.). To support this rapid business expansion, the growth of technology capabilities and services is critical. The position is in a data and reporting group focused on delivering both tactical and strategic database solutions to support sales reporting and risk analysis for retail banking. The individual will participate in the development on data, reporting projects and consult on other strategic and tactical database initiatives.
This position is for a hands-on Senior Data Architect with a minimum of 10-15 years working in the financial IT community. Candidate must possess a strong background in database (Teradata, DB2 and/or Oracle) design and implementation including data warehouse, operational data stores, and data marts. Candidate should have in-depth knowledge and hands-on experience in SQL, performance tuning, ETL (Perl, Informatica), reporting (Business Objects), and data analysis.
The candidate must have strong communication skills and be able work with both users and lead IT team members in a highly collaborative team environment. Candidate should be disciplined, detail-oriented, self-motivated, and delivery-focused.
To be successful, the role will require the individual to understand the banking technology landscape, and to offer creative solutions that integrate current capabilities, vendor capabilities, proprietary system builds, and the ability to adapt to changing database platforms
- Extensive database/data warehouse design, modeling experience (Power Designer/Erwin).
- In-depth knowledge and hands-on experience with data integration ETL development
- In-depth knowledge and hands-on experience of database/appliance systems, specifically Teradata, Sybase, Oracle and/or DB2
- In-depth knowledge and hands-on experience with reporting and analytic tools such as Business Objects, Tableau, SAS, etc.
