Technology Area Manager 1 – Application Risk Initiative Planning and Execution Manager

As part of the Enterprise Information Technology Operations Operational Excellence group, the Risk Initiative Vetting, Planning and Execution group has the responsibility to work with the following teams to create fully executable risk initiatives:

  • Enterprise Information Security (EIS) – Access Management, Cyber Security, Data Security, Firewall Security, Operating System Security, Middleware Security, System Logging
  • Enterprise Technology Infrastructure (ETI) – Infrastructure Re-platforming, Data Base Re-platform, Hardware End of Life (EOL), Operating System EOL, Middleware EOL, Policy Compliance, and Network Segmentation
  • EIT Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) – Secure Coding, Secure Build and Release tooling,
  • Software Asset and Configuration Management (SACM) – Asset Identification and Ownership, Configuration Management, Eco system identification, Application Monitoring
  • Risk Issue Resolution – Office Comptroller of the Currency Matters Requiring Attention (MRAs), Wells Fargo Audit Issues, Resolutions (I&Rs) and Wells Fargo Corrective Actions (CAs).
  • Third Party Vendor Management - Identification, Validation and Attestation

The incumbent is responsible to vet every initiative with teams representing application development, architecture, First Line of Defense, Second Line of Defense, strategy and the Technology Health refresh. Once vetted the initiative is released for planning and execution by the application teams.

The incumbent is responsible for the prioritization of all submitted initiatives based upon risk reduction, complexity, and schedule. An initiative prioritization recommendation will be created, presented and approved by the Senior Executive Leadership of EIT, EIS, Risk and Audit. Once prioritized, incumbent will work with risk to assign an initiative Technology Health score. The Technology Health score is used to report the overall risk position to EIT Leadership, EIS Leadership, ED&A leadership, First Line of Defense, Second Line of Defense and Audit.

The incumbent will drive the planning, execution and reporting process through the CIO Integration Leaders to complete all risk initiatives. Incumbent needs to be able to identify obstacles and issues preventing execution and find solutions to deliver risk initiatives. Additionally, incumbent will be a key decision maker in prioritizing Technology Health initiatives versus non-discretionary and discretionary projects.

The incumbent will be the business owner of the Account Maintenance Calendaring Tool (AMCT), an enterprise application leveraged across Enterprise Information Technology (EIT) to support the delivery of critical initiatives. This position will work closely with senior levels of management, technology development teams and project teams to ensure utilization of AMCT and drive consistency in execution of initiatives calendared in AMCT. The AMCT application is used to schedule and track all development work across the enterprise technology organization.

The incumbent will lead dedicated resources to drive the vetting, planning, execution and tracking of multiple simultaneous risk initiatives across all line of business solutions resulting in a net reduction in technology risk. The Wells Fargo Enterprise is committed to a Safe, Sound, Risk Mitigated and compliant solutions. Solutions include infrastructure, applications, network, vendors and data. This team will be expected to support the rest of the Enterprise efforts as they evolve.

Required Qualifications

  • 10+ years of risk and regulatory compliance experience
  • 5+ years of experience with Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC) concepts
  • 8 + years of experience creating and implementing strategic plans and roadmaps at the executive level for enterprise wide business initiatives
  • 12+ years of technology infrastructure experience, non-development technology experience, or a combination of both
  • 5+ years of management experience in technology

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience defining and/or developing business initiatives that require integration of multiple technology systems
  • Experience with capacity planning, forecasting, process improvement, and measurements
  • Ability to effectively partner and influence at the executive level
  • Ability to evaluate risks and the impact of decisions on an overall organization
  • Ability to influence and build relationships with LOB stakeholders, technology CIO leadership, external service providers, and architecture teams
  • Ability to influence executive decision-making and successfully negotiate critical issue resolution related to program initiatives
  • Ability to manage initiatives related to the following: architecture roadmap that aligns with business strategy and the broader architecture community; hardware and capacity planning, consolidation and rationalization; related emerging technology assessment and incubation
  • Ability to manage large, multitier technology efforts, driving initiatives to resolution
  • Ability to motivate groups and to quickly gain the trust/confidence of executive leaders
  • Ability to positively influence, motivate, and direct diverse teams in a shift based, decentralized, and geographically dispersed environment
  • Knowledge and understanding of application development, infrastructure, and architecture environments
  • Knowledge and understanding of applications technology management role including managing applications development and support for multiple systems and business functions
  • Knowledge and understanding of financial services industry
  • Knowledge and understanding of operational risk management in the financial services industry
  • Knowledge and understanding of technical leadership including large, visible, cross group projects across multiple technologies
  • Knowledge and understanding of technology software: release management
  • Release management exposure; preferably within Wells Fargo
  • Solid negotiation skills
  • Management experience for management level direct reports
  • Management experience in a large corporate, multi-line business organization
  • Management experience including multiple or large technology functions

Other Desired Qualifications
  • 5+ years of experience managing enterprise-wide technology/project/program services
  • Experience managing teams (Direct and indirect) of 100+ team members including mangers and individual contributors
  • Application or architecture management experience highly preferred
Job Expectations

  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally
  • Ability to travel up to 40% of the time
