This position is for a development engineer with the IBM Z Technology Qualification team. Engineering Systems Test is the final stage of product development where the design and architecture is validated and qualified. You will be developing test plans, testing hardware, writing and tracking defects, and working with other development personnel to debug problems. We are looking for an individual who is motivated, a self-starter, and passionate about solving problems.
Responsibilities focus on characterizing the system by analyzing, measuring and collecting data on the various characteristics of the processor chip running functional workloads while varying the voltage and temperature. This work will ultimately determine the ship frequency of the next generation IBM Z processor. In a world where System z guarantees 99.999% uptime, system isolation, recovery and serviceability is critical for ensuring System z mainframes continue to provide world class performance.
Candidate must understand the processor hardware at the architectural level and be a subject matter expert.
Candidate must possess keen skills towards small details, testing outside normal system expectations, demonstrate technical writing and verbal skills, and some level of programming knowledge. It is also important the candidate is able to work alongside test engineers, development, client support representatives.
