Current Need


Position Description
The Nurse Product Specialist provides care to individuals or defined patient populations through the use of telecommunications in accordance with Nurse Practice Act and licensure guidelines.  The Nurse Product Specialist uses critical thinking and communication skills to assess, plan, implement, educate and evaluate patient outcomes.  Services are performed telephonically and/or through video interactions. All calls are recorded and reported according to McKesson policy and manufacturer guidelines.
 
Key Responsibilities
  • Use nursing best practices to provide program requirements to individuals or defined patient populations through the use of telecommunications and/or video interactions in accordance with computer-based protocols and guidelines. 
  • Patient/Caregiver support to promote compliance on therapy.
  • Provide guidance and direction to Patients/Caregivers in managing therapy side effects.
  • Handle potential adverse events pursuant to Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Provide general information in regarding to the product and/or device treatments offered by the manufacturer.
  • Using the defined process, adheres to nursing standards, company policies and shared principles when providing clinical assessments and health education.
  • Uses nursing processes to identify patient care needs, risk and safety issues, educational opportunities, and appropriate health care referrals.
  • Processes calls based on Quality Management guidelines. Demonstrates compliance with all manufacturer and product specific regulations.
  • After-hours support for providers, patients and/or caregivers, as required. Must have internet access and home office environment conducive to providing patient/provider after-hours support.
  • Appropriate attire may be required.


Qualifications

Minimum Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree
Current RN license in good standing


Critical Skills
  • Registered nurse responsible and accountable for safe clinical practice, knowledgeable of customers and regulatory expectations in the clinical area
  • Entry level clinical call center experience may include basic knowledge of nurse call center procedures and/or company products
  • Demonstrate professional oral and written communication.
  • Demonstrates sound clinical judgment in accordance Nurse Practice Act
  • Proficient with MS Office – intermediate knowledge of Excel
  • Knowledge of identifying adverse events

Additional Knowledge & Skills
  • Appeals experience
  • Experience working with web-ex conferencing applications/tools highly preferred
  • Ability to accommodate a fast-paced environment, changing needs within healthcare


Education
Bachelor's Degree

Certifications/Licensure
Current RN license in good standing


Physical Requirements
Normal office environment - ability to take on-call shifts required
