Test Lead, Business Execution

The Business Execution Team is responsible for advancing the commercial platform to enable achievement of strategic business objectives and drive continuous improvement by:

1. Identify, prioritizing and executing process improvements and system solutions

2. Transforming the solution delivery approach

3. Leading and managing spend, priority and oversight of technology investments and the business roadmap


This role reports up through Retail Operations and supports all business lines, commodities and functional areas throughout the organization. 



1.      Test Planning – 40%

·        Assist team in the development of UAT standards, policies, procedures and workflows

·        Create and socialize test plans from business specifications or project plans with appropriate stakeholders

·        Design, coordinate, and drive user acceptance testing strategy for alignment and execution across multi-functional teams

·        Leverage best-in-class tools to lead UAT testing activities for Capital projects, O&M projects, ongoing system enhancements and overarching infrastructure changes

·        Identify and utilize the appropriate mix of testing techniques to provide overall quality assurance.

·        Partner with business partners, key stakeholders and key IT resources to ensure effective use of methodologies and communicate test strategies, test results and performance

2.     Test Execution – 30%

·        Direct and lead all UAT test activities as defined under the test plan including monitoring progress, tracking to project plan, tracking issues and risks and setting testing priorities

·        Document and confirm test execution entry and exit requirements have been met prior to test execution initiation or completion

·        Support development of sound test scripts and maintain effective test script library

·        Ensure end user engagement in user acceptance testing (UAT) preparation and during test execution

·        Leverage test automation to create efficiencies

·        Facilitate defect reporting, management and prioritization from conception to resolution; ensure that defects are properly addressed, minimizing defect deferrals

·        Communicate changes or impacts effectively to business users via change management efforts

·        Create efficient feedback loops for developers (IT) and the business to maximize velocity through testing cycles while maintaining overall system quality control

·        Willing to assist less experienced UAT testing resources with their test execution

·        Mentor QA Analysts to ensure high-quality and efficient software development and deliveries


3.     Process Improvements – 30%

·        Lead process improvement activities associated with testing inefficiencies

·        Create and/or modify testing processes and tools to improve team, system and/or business results

·        Help drive establishment of environments to ensure testing remains on schedule





·        Bachelor’s degree or higher

·        3-5 years proven experience in a Testing Role for business applications

·        Demonstrated ability and certification in applying testing fundamentals and concepts, ISTQB certification preferred

·        Demonstrated knowledge and use of HP ALM, VersionOne a plus

·        Demonstrated ability in regression testing automation

·        Agile/Scrum methodology preferred

·        Strong problem solving and analytical skills for defect analysis and reporting

·        Ability to understand business stories, manipulate data and test systems to ensure sufficient functionality testing

·        Possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal)

·        Demonstrated ability to organize multiple deliverables and coordinate project teams to deliver high-quality results

·        Demonstrated ability to work through ambiguity to create sustainable and repeatable processes

·        Ability to bring stakeholders from various departments within the company together to gain alignment on sensitive issues

·        Knowledge of the energy business; wholesale business knowledge a plus




·        Responsibilities span Constellation’s Commercial Business; this team supports all business lines, commodities and functional areas of the business and must have working knowledge of all core systems used within the various businesses as well as testing tools and systems

·        Team members reside in various locations

·        Position requires both autonomy and team work and allows for independence and decision making

·        High visibility and exposure to leaders and management across the Business while working on a variety of projects

·        Internal contacts with every functional area throughout the retail business

·        Number of direct reports = 0, but at times may include Contractor resources to deliver on a large project testing plan
