Testing Engineer

The Emerging Technology group under Verizon Network Technology and Planning organization is looking for self-motivated and innovative thinking engineers in support of Verizon SDN WAN architecture and technology development and deployment. As a member of technical staff, you will be focusing on testing automation platform development in support of our continuous integration DevOps environment. The team’s research and development goal is to provide a production deployable SDN WAN technology evolution strategy/solution to keep our service relevance in the market place in a fast moving and quickly evolving networking industry.

Key responsibilities:

  • Design & develop test plan for SDN WAN platform
  • Develop test suite & software library for open source automation framework
  • Develop software tools to collect & analyze test results


Must have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Four or more years of relevant work experience.

Ideally, you’ll also have:

  • BS degree in Computer Science/Computer Engineering or equivalent engineering discipline.
  • Experience of test automation in CI (Continuous Integration) environment – development of test plan, test scripts, analysis tools.
  • Experience with open source test automation platform & tools (Robot Framework, Jenkins, etc.).
  • Hands-on data networking experience (both Layer 2 and Layer 3).
  • Solid understanding of IPv4/IPv6, DNS, DHCP, and IP addresses management.
  • Linux system administration/operational experience working in virtualization environments (i.e. KVM, Docker, Open vSwitch, etc.).
  • Ability to learn new networking skills and technologies with minimal assistance.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication (verbal/written) skills.
  • Network data modeling and open API/platform development experience.
  • Strong Layer 2/Layer 3 networking background with operational troubleshooting and network monitoring/analysis experience.
  • Understanding of SDN architecture and technology (control plane, data plane, management plane, orchestration, etc.).
  • OpenFlow knowledge and experience.
  • User interface design and implementation.
  • Cloud computing experience.
