LPN - Tissue Recovery Technician/Placenta Donation Coordinator - Atlanta, GA


Key Duties and Responsibilities:

Assumes responsibility for proper procurement of donor tissue
Coordinates donor tissue retrieval at off-site hospital locations
Facilitates Informed Consent process with each donor and applicable witness.
Evaluates potential donors to determine suitability of tissue for transplantation by investigating the donor's medical and social background utilizing all available resources.
Consults Quality Assurance personnel with any questions related to donor suitability.
Utilizes aseptic techniques in setting-up and maintenance of sterile fields during swabbing of tissue.
Facilitates blood specimen collection for each donor for serological testing.
Completes necessary forms to maintain accurate donor records and tracking logs related to tissue procurement.
Ensure proper labeling and identification is maintained on quarantined tissue containers.
Assumes responsibility for maintaining effective communication, coordination, and working relations with hospital and Client Company personnel.
Maintains a positive relationship with hospital staff and participating physicians.
Completes procurement functions in a timely manner.
Keeps management informed of offsite activities and significant problems.
Stays informed of recovery requirements and training updates.
Occasional travel outside of assigned home region/hospital and out of state, as needed by team.
Other job functions as required and requested by the Donor Operations Management.



Requirements:

Relevant Degree in Science related field (Biology, Chemistry, Nursing) OR minimum 2 years experience in related field
Knowledge of AATB, FDA, and other state/federal regulations preferred
Strong computer skills, including proficiency at MS Word, MS Excel, and Windows-based OS
Excellent organization and communication skills
Ability to work independently
Outstanding patient and medical staff relational skills
