Job Summary: Conducts basic training and educational programs for associate development, on-the job training, and associate on boarding. Provides basic technical training sessions as directed. May assist in developing materials for classroom delivery or recommending changes in assigned courses. This is an entry level technical or professional training position.Reporting Relationships: Reports to Business Unit or Learning and Performance Supervisor, Manager or Director. No direct reports.Job Responsibilities:1. Conducts entry level and basic technical or interaction skills training to associates. Schedules courses and enrolls associates. Serves as a back-up or co-facilitator to other instructors for programs which are not normal responsibility.2. Uses existing evaluation tools to assess and report training results. Communicates improvements for future training sessions and adjusts content in process to meet the needs of the class.3. Maintains, revises, and enhances current training programs as directed. May assist in designing basic level training classes.4. Creates the appropriate learning experience by selecting class materials from established programs or modules and training aids.5. Performs other duties as assigned.MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:Education: Undergraduate degree desired.Designations/ Certifications: Progress toward certification in appropriate business unit technical course work (CPCU, AIC, API, AU, etc) desired. In some business units there may be additional regulatory requirements for specific certifications (i.e., FINRA series in NF).Experience: Typically requires two or more years or related experience in a technical functional role (insurance, financial services, etc.). Prefer some training/learning experience.Knowledge: Subject matter knowledge related to training area of responsibility and knowledge of adult education concepts and learning styles.Skills/ Competencies: Strong presentation, verbal and written communication skills with the ability to relate to and explain basic job related concepts. Demonstrated proficiency with personal computers and related software. Ability to set priorities, manage time, organize work, and meet deadlines.Regulatory Requirements: Associates must obtain all required Federal and/or state licenses/registrations within the time period designated by the business unit. Additional licenses/registrations may be required when new products and services are implemented. If an associate fails or is unable to obtain required licenses/registrations within the time period designated by the business unit, the associate will be ineligible to continue in the position.Values: Regularly and consistently demonstrates the Nationwide Values and Guiding Behaviors.Staffing Exceptions: Staffing exception to the above minimum job requirements must be approved by the AVP/VP and Human Resources.Overtime Eligibility: Not Eligible (exempt).Working Conditions: May require physical ability to stand while teaching and to move furniture, equipment and supplies around classroom.
