Current Need

We are currently hiring a Transportation Supervisor to oversee 17 local drivers, 5 remote drivers, and 2 Class A line haul drivers delivering product to our cross docks in Peoria, IL & Big Bend, WI.  The position will work in unison with our transportation supervisor at our distribution center in Elgin, IL.  The hours are 5am-1:30pm Monday thru Friday and are also on call for any overnight line haul issues.


Position Description

Manages and coordinates the daily activities of the delivery operation for the Glendale Heights distribution center, and works in unison with transportation supervisor in our Elgin distribution center. This position will also accept transportation manager responsibilities in absence of the transportation Manager. 


Key Responsibilities include: 

  • Daily routing of deliveries
  • Loading of truck shipments
  • Dock security and cleanliness
  • Fleet maintenance and readiness
  • Scheduling management
  • DOT requirements
  •  Assisting sales & customer service
  • Training of fleet drivers 

 

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

4+ years operational experience including 2+ years leadership experience

Critical Skills

  • 1+ years transportation experience, including line haul

Additional Knowledge & Skills

  • Excellent organizational skills, excellent communication skills (verbal/written), and management skills
  • Ability to train and take part in driver ride-alongs required
  • Problem solving experience required
  • Knowledge of RoadNet preferred
  • LTL distribution or carrier experience preferred
  • Knowledge of area and ability to build routes preferred
  • Experience with E1/AS400 preferred

Education                    

2-year degree or equivalent experience

 

Physical Requirements

·      Distribution Center environment

  • Ride-alongs with drivers out to different cross docks
  • May have to drive out to assist with a breakdown
  • Ability to lift up to 50lbs unassisted
