Amgen's Attribute Sciences department (within the Process Development organization) at our Cambridge, Massachusetts site is looking for an undergraduate co-op student interested in a 6-month laboratory-based co-op assignment. The student will be trained in advanced analytical methodologies utilizing state-of-the-art analytical instrumentation. The student will work on developing quantitative methods for protein characterization using multi-dimensional liquid chromatography (MDM) and possibly mass spectrometry. The student will also receive training in the design and execution of experiments, as well as in the evaluation of experimental results. The student will be part of a cross-functional team with opportunities to interact with and learn from a diverse team of professional scientists and present his/her work in a collaborative setting.
This position presents an excellent opportunity to learn a broad range of state-of-the-art analytical techniques applied in the context of biopharmaceutical process development.
Basic Qualifications
Amgen requires that all individuals applying for an undergraduate internship or an undergraduate co-op assignment at Amgen must meet the following criteria:
18 years or older
Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's Degree program from an accredited college or university with a 3.0 minimum GPA or equivalent
Completion of one year of study from an accredited college or university prior to the internship commencing.
Enrolled in a full time Bachelor's program following the potential internship or co-op assignment with an accredited college or university
Must not be employed at the time the internship starts
Preferred Qualifications
Degree concentration in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related field
Completed courses in Quantitative Analysis and Analytical Chemistry (also typically called Instrumental Analysis)
Completed general chemistry laboratory courses
