Amgen's 10 - 12 week internship program offers meaningful project experiences that impact patient's lives. This internship provides the opportunity for executive and social networking events and to participate in community volunteer projects while providing a competitive compensation. Limited relocation housing and/or transportation allowance may be available for eligible candidates.
The job will include supporting Amgen Rhode Island's Automation Engineering Department with robust, challenging project(s). Working closely with multiple disciplines, including manufacturing, process engineering, process development, utility operations, maintenance, quality assurance, and validation to implement operational improvement. Some of the specific activities of this job include the following:
Work in a small group of engineers and/or technicians on an ongoing or project basis.
Execute tasks under the general direction of lead engineers to complete design and engineering within schedule.
Troubleshoot and resolve equipment, automation or process issues in the field.
Communicating proactively with supervisor and support staff, highlighting issues and proposing solutions.
The job will include training for the above activities. All work will be performed under direct guidance from Automation Engineer staff.
Basic Qualifications
Amgen requires that all individuals applying for an undergraduate internship or an undergraduate co-op assignment at Amgen must meet the following criteria:
18 years or older
Currently enrolled in a full time Bachelor's Degree program from an accredited college or university with a 3.0 minimum GPA or equivalent
Completion of one year of study from an accredited college or university prior to the internship commencing
Enrolled in a full time Bachelor's or Combined Bachelor's/Master's degree program following the potential internship or co-op assignment with an accredited college or university
Must not be employed at the time the internship starts
Preferred Qualifications
Concentration in Chemical Engineering or Computer Systems Engineering
GPA 3.5 and above
Proven leadership experience (e.g., projects, jobs, clubs, organizations, sports, etc.)
Sophomore or Junior in standing
Strong communication, computer, and project management skills
Ability to work independently
