Amgen's 10 - 12 week internship program offers meaningful project experiences that impact patient's lives. This internship provides the opportunity for executive and social networking events and to participate in community volunteer projects while providing a competitive compensation. Limited relocation housing and/or transportation allowance may be available for eligible candidates.
This position provides the opportunity to work within the directly with Quality, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and IS staff to advance efficient operations within the Quality Control Laboratory Operations department.
Coaching, mentorship, and guidance will be provided to staff as they engage in the following responsibilities:
Mapping of various business processes to understand coordination/logistics, system interactions, and opportunities for improvements. Examples include:Sample retain process using Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) Consumables Inventory Management System (CIMS)
Sample shipping and receiving processes
Sample logging and collection process
SharePoint Site Development and Improvements
Implementation of electronic solutions (examples: electronic forms, visual boards for manufacturing sample collection logistics, automated incoming/outgoing sample shipment forecasting, etc.)
Authorship of quality procedures and documents within the EDM Quality System
Basic understanding of Quality organization, processes, and procedures which ensuring adherence to Amgen Standards, current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP), Good Distribution Practices (GDP) and other applicable regulations
Completion of assigned training to permit execution of required tasks
Basic project management
Basic Workforce planning
Basic Qualifications
Amgen requires that all individuals applying for an undergraduate internship or an undergraduate co-op assignment at Amgen must meet the following criteria:
18 years or older
Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's Degree program from an accredited college or university with a 3.0 minimum GPA or equivalent
Completion of one year of study from an accredited college or university prior to the internship commencing
Enrolled in a full time Bachelor's program following the potential internship or co-op assignment with an accredited college or university
Must not be employed at the time the internship starts
Preferred Qualifications
Degree concentration(s) in Business, Life Sciences, or Engineering
GPA 3.5 or higher
Proven leadership experience (e.g., projects, jobs, clubs, organizations, sports, etc.)
Knowledge of MS Office Applications (Excel, Word)
Technical Writing
