Amgen's 10 - 12 week internship program offers meaningful project experiences that impact patient's lives. This internship provides the opportunity for executive and social networking events and to participate in community volunteer projects while providing a competitive compensation. Limited relocation housing and/or transportation allowance may be available for eligible candidates.
This position provides the opportunity to work directly with manufacturing staff supporting bulk drug substance operations.
Coaching, mentorship, and guidance will be provided to staff as they engage in Lean manufacturing assignments. For example, responsibilities could include:
Develop, improve, and automate "visual management" tools for the manufacturing floor for displaying relevant process status and schedule information.
Analyze raw material scrap data and investigating opportunities for scrap reduction by working with manufacturing floor staff and management, and observing processes on the manufacturing floor.
Develop and deploy automated data trending tools to facilitate rapid problem identification.
Work on optimizing personnel and/or process flows within the manufacturing plant.
Support management and tracking of Lean waste reduction activities within the plant
Basic Qualifications
Amgen requires that all individuals applying for an undergraduate internship or an undergraduate co-op assignment at Amgen must meet the following criteria:
18 years or older
Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's Degree program from an accredited college or university with a 3.0 minimum GPA or equivalent
Completion of one year of study from an accredited college or university prior to the internship commencing
Enrolled in a full time Bachelor's program following the potential internship or co-op assignment with an accredited college or university
Must not be employed at the time the internship starts
Preferred Qualifications
Degree concentration(s) in Business, Life Sciences, Engineering, Computer Science, or Math
GPA 3.5 or higher
Proven leadership experience (e.g., projects, jobs, clubs, organizations, sports, etc.)
Advanced data management or programming skills (e.g., Excel)
Strong analytical and problem solving skills
Strong process mapping and/or optimization knowledge
Understanding of Lean Manufacturing tools and methodologies
Positive attitude and drive
