Looking for a company that inspires passion, courage and imagination, where you can be part of the team shaping the future of global commerce? Want to shape how millions of people buy, sell, connect, and share around the world? If you’re interested in joining a purpose driven community that is dedicated to creating an ambitious and inclusive workplace, join eBay – a company you can be proud to be a part of.
eBay is evolving.
We started with the simple idea that Internet commerce could be democratized. In the brave days of the early web we created a truly open marketplace, and it was fun. The following 20+ years of steady growth and global expansion has given millions of people a place to buy and sell just about anything.
We’re looking for hybrid designer / developers to help us prototype new eBay experiences. And improve existing ones. As a member of the Design Research & Strategy prototyping team you’ll be continually prototyping the eBay experience. Finding new ways to empower buyers and sellers everywhere.
The primary challenge of this role is being capable of thinking like an engineer and thinking like a designer. What we’re alluding to is something beyond mimicking.
A part of that challenge is truly having solid engineering skills. It goes beyond just being a designer that knows some code. We’re front-end engineers that go toe-to-toe with other designers when it comes to at least a couple of the following: user interfaces, interaction design, user experience, usability, UI design patterns, etc.
At the heart of these skills for us is prototyping and participating in the conception and the building of products at eBay.
What you have:
Eagerness to learn, expand your skills, and try new tools
Passion for user-centered design
Talent for collaborating to create elegant design solutions
Experience developing with programming frameworks and libraries such as AngularJS, jQuery, React, Ruby on Rails, etc.
What you will do:
Partner with designer, researchers, and other stakeholder to develop and visually polish hi-fidelity web interfaces
Participate in user testing to gain a better understanding of user needs
Sketch concepts, wireframes, and prototypes to find innovative solutions to problems
Participate in product and design discussions with the team
