Role Summary:

The Vandalia Electronic Technician will perform all responsibilities of testing, measuring, and recording for acceptance of electrical power equipment in a production environment and / or perform product development and qualifications of electrical power equipment in a lab environment.

Essential Responsibilities:

In this role, you will:

+ Review, understand, and follow routers, procedures, specification, and other instructions for completeness to perform operations

+ Perform basic computer skills as needed

+ Set up and operate standard electronic / electrical and mechanical test apparatus and equipment

+ Troubleshoot AC and DC boards to component level

+ Communicate technical issues effectively to other employees in the department as well as engineers

+ Solder and de-solder SMT and through holes during the development stage of hardware

+ Assemble and modify experimental circuits and prototypes according to engineering instructions

+ Read and use electronic schematics

+ Read and follow detailed work instructions and interpret technical documents

+ Practically apply basic math calculations (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division of fractions, decimals, and whole numbers)

+ Conversion of numbers to and from metrics

+ Apply common sense understanding to common situations and solve job related problems requiring occasional assistance

+ Read and understand applicable information such as written instructions, procedures, and specifications that apply to daily operations

+ Read and complete forms and generate meaningful reports and charts

+ Maintain an excellent record of attendance and punctuality

+ Work in a team-based environment

+ Make decisions based on experience and available data

+ Accept and give constructive criticism

+ Maintain a positive attitude

+ Demonstrate an ambition to excel and advance in skills and knowledge

+ Conform to all EHS guidelines including, but not limited to, wearing proper PPE

+ Work in an area where there may be moderate noise intensity (85 to 89.9 dBa) and areas where hearing protection is required

+ Work in an area where, due to normal machining operations, there may be dust, fumes, or smoke (not over OSHA Permissible Exposure Levels)

+ Lift up to 25 pounds repetitively, occasionally lifts up to 35 pounds non-repetitively, and sometimes lift over 35 pounds with assistance

+ Successful candidate may be required to take classes in team building, environmental health and safety, and / or other on-the-job training to learn specific assignments

+ Comply with and support all GE policies and the "Integrity: The Spirit and The Letter of Our Commitment" guide

+ This role is restricted to U.S. persons (i.e., U.S. citizens, permanent residents, and other protected individuals under the Immigration and Naturalization Act, 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3)) due to access to export-controlled technology. GE will require proof of status prior to employment.

Qualifications/Requirements:

+ Associate's Degree in Electronic Engineering Technology from an accredited school or institutionOR

+ Equivalent military training and courseworkOR

+ High School Diploma / GED with a minimum of 2 years of experience in electronics

+ Ability and willingness to work in an area where, due to normal machining operations, there may be dust, fumes, or smoke (not over OSHA Permissible Exposure Levels)

+ Ability and willingness to lift up to 25 pounds repetitively, occasionally lifts up to 35 pounds non-repetitively, and sometimes lift over 35 pounds with assistance

+ Ability and willingness to use oscilloscopes, function generators, multi-meters, AC / DC power supplies, and voltage/current probes

+ Ability and willingness to read and use electronic schematics

+ Ability and willingness to read and follow detailed work instructions and interpret technical documents
