Essential Job Functions:
Charter Communications is looking for a well-qualified Video Systems Engineer-III to architect video solutions incorporating Conditional Access Controllers, Emergency Alert Systems, Switched Digital Video, Video On-Demand, and Edge Modulation devices. You must have well-rounded knowledge on Headend architectures as well as be up-to-date on video product roadmaps from common industry vendors, including Arris and Cisco. You will solve how to integrate legacy technologies with new technologies. You must support Video Operations by creating detailed engineering documentation to include Engineering Design Documents, Test Plans, Methods of Procedure, Golden Configurations, and technical road maps.
The Video Systems Engineer-III role within the Advanced Video Engineering department will work closely with other advanced engineers, lab engineers, operations engineers, system integration engineers, QA test teams, and outside vendors to successfully integrate and manage all of the components in our Headends and Data Centers. This position is critical to maintaining the legacy video infrastructure product life-cycle, develop new business solutions, and serve as top-level solution support over video operations for the controller infrastructure.
Success in this position requires that you be an expert in the cable industry. Your expertise must include some, or all, of the following systems: Conditional Access Controllers, Switched Digital Video, Video On-Demand, Emergency Alert Systems, Edge Modulation, and integrations of those systems with any external systems. You must have experience designing and documenting end to end solutions. You will also need to have experience and knowledge of best practices with virtualization, networking, security, and general systems administration.
You must be a video technology visionary as you will be assisting with developing strategies for the deployment of all future video services across the entire service footprint of Charter Communications.
Education and Experience:
• Bachelor's degree (B.A. or B.S.) from four-year College or university; or equivalent training, education and experience.
• Lead: Assigns, trains, or oversees work of others.
• Travel up to 5%.
