Server Administration position available with a well-known, global company with a location in Richmond, CA. This is an ongoing project that could be extended, and this team is looking for someone who is very strong on the VMware Infrastructure Administration side.Day to day will be supporting 125 servers between physical and virtual.
Responsible for maintaining and balancing virtual infrastructures, and making sure they are up to date on patches for the virtual machines and hardware.
Currently using Remedy ticketing system for tickets which amount to around 10 tickets daily.
In migration of VMware .1 to 5.5 and will be responsible for completion of upgrade.
Will be working in an HP Blade environment, Robust Fiber Network, Backup Legato, NetApp Storage, and Information Protection Protocols.
Routinely need to change passwords, standardize equipment, and documentation.
This resource will be working on a very collaborative team of 3 other server administrators.
Background: Must have VMware/vSphere experience, migration/upgrade experience from VMware 4.1 to 5.x, Windows 2008 experience (Windows 2012 is a plus), knowledge with Blade or Storage, good documentation skills, good troubleshooting skills, and be self-motivated.
Additional �Nice to Have� Qualifications: NetApp, Apache, and Acronis (will be trained on this).
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Management Information Systems, or related field preferred
2 years (Current) experience with base supported technologies: Microsoft Server 2008/2012, VMWare/vSphere and Server hardware technologies
Strong experience supporting vSphere server and remote CLI tools to manage ESXi infrastructure.
Strong experience working with VMware ESXi and other VMware tools.
Experience with NetApp storage, snapshots and optimization.
Experience with Backup and Recovery management software.
Experience with configuring and maintaining storage area networks (SAN).
Background and experience in maintaining Information Protection and Compliance policies, tasks and documentation.
Ability to create and maintain PowerShell Scripts.
Established teamwork and leadership skills to lead and participate in resolution of escalated incidents with multiple technology disciplines. Problem solving, troubleshooting, and analytical skills with the ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Ability to successfully communicate technical details to a wide variety of audiences. Ability to respond to common inquiries or escalations from end-users. Ability to write routine reports for documentation, informational or status reporting requirements. Experience with data center operations including power distribution, racking, and cabling. Ability to lift at least 30 pounds and up to 50 pounds (e.g. rack and unrack computer and storage hardware).
