Position Description

The Warehouse Manager reports to the Operations Manager and is responsible for motivating and developing a team of exempt direct report and non-exempt direct reports in the process of order selection, shipping, replenishment and other logistics related functions.  The manager will ensure all Standard Operating Procedures are followed and Business Operating Metrics are exceeded on a daily, monthly and annual basis.  The Warehouse Manager provides direction and leadership to ensure execution of distribution center's strategy, employee engagement, development, and customer satisfaction.  This person will contribute to the development of the distribution center's strategy and tactics while ensuring compliance with company and regulatory policies and requirements. 


Responsibilities
  • Ensure the safety and security of all human capital and material goods. 
  • Evaluate current procedures and practices for accomplishing department objectives. 
  • Develop and maintain subject matter expertise in all Distribution Operations training programs and functions.
  • Focus on process improvements for all warehouse functions. 
  • Give work direction, resolve problems, and set deadlines to ensure timely completion of all work. 
  • Maintain the integrity of the Engineered Standards program.
  • Complete performance evaluations on direct reports and ensures timely completion of non-exempt performance evaluations.  
  • Develop a strong team of leaders providing coaching and appropriate development opportunities for direct reports.
  • Ensure high quality employee attraction, engagement and development at all levels.  
  • Assess existing staff needs and work with managers to identify opportunities. 
  • Meet regularly with team members collectively, as well as on an individual basis to monitor progress toward meeting objectives, track performance, coach and counsel if necessary; as well as recognizing team and individual successes.  
  • Alerts the OM and DCM of any critical or potentially critical issues. 
  • Delegate tasks with discretion while maintaining personal responsibility and accountability for follow through on such tasks.
  • Organize interdepartmental activities ensuring completion of the project on schedule and within budget constraints. 

Qualifications



Minimum Requirements
  • 4+ Years of Operations experience including 3+ years of Supervisor experience.

Critical Skills
  • Management skills – coaching and development of supervisors
  • Demonstrated employee engagement skills
  • MS Office proficiency
  • Strong communication skills – open, honest verbal and written communications
  • Very thorough knowledge of Operations Management
  • Strategic Thinking
  • Must be open to flexible day hours, Monday through Friday, with a start time of between 6AM and 8AM. 


Additional Knowledge & Skills
  • Excellent organizational skills

  • Experience managing budgets and expenses
  • WMS experience                                         
  • Project Management
  • Six Sigma training or experience

Education
  • 4-year degree or equivalent experience

Physical Requirements
  • High energy distribution center environment
  • May be required to work various shifts, including nights and days.
  • Some overtime required
