The Investment Strategy Specialist (ISS) role’s primary objective is to grow their region’s revenue and net income by serving as a resource to educate advisors as well as helping to develop fee based solutions for client needs. The position dually reports to the Regional Chief Investment Officer (RCIO) and Senior Director of Sales (SDS). In coordination with the RCIO’s and SDS’s strategic messaging, the ISS provides tactical solutions.
This position provides investment solutions and is a subject matter expert for both the Fiduciary and Brokerage platforms. The ISS provides The Private Bank Investment Strategists (IS) and Financial Advisors (FA) tactical investment solutions through a deep knowledge of investment products, managers, and solutions across both platforms. Based on the investment views and capital markets research of Wells Fargo, the ISS helps translate investment strategies and investment themes into actionable tactical solutions.
In support of the RCIO and SDS, the ISS assists our specialists - Private Bankers, Fiduciary Advisors, Investment Strategists and Wealth Advisors with investment solutions available to them. The ISS partners with the Team Leads to provide training to the specialists regarding Investment Acumen as well as specific features and benefits of both investment platforms and underlying strategies (example Managed Disciplined Strategies, Options Strategies, etc). They educate on how to execute investment strategies. They participate under the direction of the RCIO and SDS in client events, individual meetings, and COI functions. They generate ideas and support for initiatives around investment themes, market opportunities, tax/legislatively driven investment ideas, etc.
The ISS works with the Regional Managing Directors (RMDs)/Team Leaders to identify specialist in all job families with the greatest opportunity for additional investment coaching and execution. They work closely with those identified specialists to review opportunities, create solutions, and actively participate in client opportunities.
The ISS actively promotes fee based business solutions across both Fiduciary and Brokerage platforms by working with The Private Bank HNW FA’s to identify opportunities to bring fee-based and client optimized solutions into client portfolios. They partner with the Productivity Consultants and assist in identifying and facilitating the conversion of accounts from transactional to fee-based solutions.
The ISS will team with Regional Brokerage Managers (RBMs) and RMDs to meet with potential HNW HUB Private Bank FA recruits to explain investment platforms/capabilities, advantages and competitive differentiation. In conjunction with the Productivity Consultants, the ISS supports the HNW FA’s with integrating new client’s portfolios to the appropriate strategy/platform.
The ISS develops a broad understanding of the competitive landscape in the region/markets they work in. They demonstrate an acute understanding of how other major investment firms compete in these markets and form their value propositions to be able to coach specialist/producers to greater success.
