In this exciting role your team will ideate and craft our workplace principles enabling human centered design frameworks, educate and advocate on industry trends that support our Mission, build strong partnerships with key stakeholders to influence enterprise service strategies, and support a learning agenda anchored in speed, value, and experience. As a Workplace Strategy Director, you will:

  • Lead and support a distributed team of user researchers, strategists, and partners as they develop, implement, and maintain strategies and tools that will shape our physical workplace
  • Provide strong problem solving leadership related to shaping strategic focus and implementation approach for emerging industry trends in the fields of design thinking, office interior design, occupancy and space planning, and user experience
  • Practice holistic thinking for the built environment that takes into consideration culture, social and organization behaviors, technology, amenities, services, and facilities
  • Lead the development of policies, guidelines, processes and responsibilities for workplace and design for our clients, framed around the employee experience including design, brand, technology and overall wellness
  • Develop a global model for client workplace engagement to deliver a consistent approach which ensures that we understand the needs of the business so these can be successfully delivered through workplace design, delivery and operations
  • Create a metrics platform to consistently measure the effectiveness and efficiency of client’s workplace while supporting workplace improvement initiatives and projects
  • Understand technological advances, change management, organizational leadership, and compliance issues and how each supports and/or drive workplace strategies
  • Build visibility and develop a program to share principles and examples of Capital One’s Workplace Strategy internally and externally
  • Function as the key stakeholder for Workplace Solutions learning agenda, focused on delivering results in a well-managed way for high value workplace pilots
  • Work at an enterprise level with Central Services teams and at a local level with regional teams, developing engagement models for the team that support regional delivery of horizontal strategies
  • As necessary and applicable, manage third party partners and consultants to ensure operations, performance and compliance to contract
  • Travel up to 25%

  • Strong networking abilities and established reputation (particularly regarding workplace strategies) within the corporate real estate industry
  • Ability to lead teams of creative associates with experience in architecture, interior design, LEED, and spatial design software

Basic Qualifications:

-Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture or Bachelor’s Degree in Interior Design or Military experience

-At least 5 years of experience working at an Architecture firm, or at least 5 years of experience working at an Interior Design firm

-At least 3 years of experience in Commercial Interior Design, or at least 3 years of experience in Commercial Real Estate

-At least 3 years of experience in strategic development, or at least 3 years of experience in strategy implementation

-NCIDQ/CID Certified

-Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design Accredited

-Proficient in AutoCAD, or Sketch Up, or 3D Studio Max, or Adobe InDesign

-Proficient in Microsoft Project, Visio, and Excel

Preferred Qualifications:

-Master’s Degree

-1 year of experience in Design Thinking application

-3 years of experience working with technology companies designing their workspaces

-3 years of experience in creating and delivering change management plans for technology initiatives
